Rush Limbaugh is Wrong About Huckabee

Rush Limbaugh is a great conservative. He has done more to advance the conservative ideology than virtually anyone on the planet. It is not often I disagree with Rush, but when it comes to saying that Mike Huckabee is not a conservative he is simply wrong.

It is true that gas taxes were raised in Arkansas by three cents a gallon which Huckabee and 80% of the public supported. As a conservative American, there some things that the government should do with my tax dollars. One is to protect its citizens from both foreign and domestic enemies. This includes defending our citizens against criminals and foreign powers. Another legitimate role of government is to ensure that we have a solid infrastructure of good roads, highways, bridges, sewer and water systems. As a benevolent society having a limited safety net for those who can not survive without help is a compassionate thing to do. Collectively supporting the concept that our society is better off if all its citizens have the opportunity to a quality education are are all conservative principals.

Conservatives believe in a limited role of government, strong national defense, low taxes, restrained spending, promotion of traditional family and moral values. Mike Huckabee believes in all those principals. For Rush to say he's not a conservative because he does not apply those principals in the same way Rush would is unfair. Saying that Mike Huckabee is not a conservative is like saying Rush is not a conservative because Limbaugh has been divorced several times and been hooked on pain pills for a time in his life. What would be fair is for Limbaugh to say Huckabee is a moderate to slight of center economic conservative, but to say he is a liberal is simply not true.

Rush Limbaugh is a great American and he does a great job of defending and articulating conservatism, but in the case about Mike Huckabee this is one time is simply wrong. Mike Huckabee is a conservative. He may may not be as right some would like him to be on some issues, but he is by definition a true conservative.

Mike Huckabee has something else going for him that the others candidates either do not have or have to a lesser degree. He has the ability to take his brand of conservatism and inspire people. We often mention Ronald Reagan. What made Ronald Reagan so effective is that he inspired Americans with his ability to reach people at their souls and then solidified that passion with his conservative values. Mike Huckabee does the same thing for many people.

I think after years of being told by Democrats that America is bad and the source of the world's problems, Huckabee's appeal is that he as the ability to make Americans feel good to be Americans again. As Reagan Mike Huckabee brings with him a conservatism that is inspiring.

I wish Rush would re-evaluate and realize that Huckabee is one of us. True conservatives.

Could It Be Huckabee and Obama?

Hillary is in a free fall and Democrats by the score are enthusiastically jumping off the Hillary train to support Obama. Hillary is having a melt down and may not survive past super Tuesday.
Democrats are asking themselves why support Hillary when they can support a guy who holds to the same policies as Hillary but doesn't come with all the baggage the Clinton's will bring to the general campaign.

Obama is likable, full of fire in his belly and he inspires his base. Hillary is non of the above and when given a clear choice, Obama seems to be their guy. Obama is a honest liberal. Hillary talks out of both sides of her mouth and people are sick of it. What worked for Bill isn't working for Hillary because Hillary is no Bill Clinton.

On the other side there is the come from nowhere guy Mike Huckabee that is doing for the Republican base what Obama is doing for the Democrat base. Huckabee is likable, has fire in the belly and inspires his supporters. Huckabee's appeal swings between social conservatives, moderates and independents. As with Obama, he says he is the agent of change.

Both men are men of integrity and would rather inspire people to vote for them instead of attacking the other person. Both the Republicans and Democrats are starting to embrace these positive strategies and time will tell if it works.

If Huckabee and Obama win their party nomination it will shape up as a classic contest between classic liberals and traditional conservative political philosophies. Americans may have the opportunity to examine the philosophies of each party without the personal character attacks. This would be good for America. I believe if this is the case, then Mike Huckabee will be the next President.

Although Obama is a good guy, his policies would be disastrous for our country. My hope is that America has such a debate and these are two guys whose appeal crosses party lines that can make their cases for their respective points of view. This race is getting exciting.

Would Bill Clinton Be A Good "First Man" in The White House

Sydney Rieckoff, a fourth grader and reporter for Scholastic News posed this question to Chelsea Clinton. "Do you think your dad would be a good 'first man' in the White House?" Chelsea’ response was "I'm sorry, I don't talk to the press and that applies to you, unfortunately. Even though I think you're cute."

Apparently, the Clintons have a gag order on 27-year-old Chelsea to not talk to reporters, even 9 year old reporters. However, she is allowed to take photo ops and stand tall next to her mom on the campaign trail. Leave it to a pint sized fourth grader to ask a question that her adult journalistic peers should be asking the Clintons.

Would Bill Clinton be a good “first man” in the White House? Ms. Rieckoff’s question goes to one of the fundamental reasons people either support Hillary or oppose Hillary as President. If Hillary Clinton wasn’t the wife of Democrat icon Bill Clinton, would people even taken her candidacy serious? This two for one approach to Hillary’s campaign is appealing to those who want Bill back in the White House and is driving the rest of the country up a tree, who found Bill Clintons personal behavior in the White House to be inappropriate at the least and criminal at the worst.

Here are a few follow-up questions to Sidney’s brilliant question.

1. Mrs. Clinton, not withstanding being the first lady and Bill Clinton’s wife, what are your credentials to be President?
2. Mrs. Clinton how do you respond to those critics that say the only reason people are supporting you is because they want your husband back in the White House?
3. Mrs. Clinton, as President what will you do if your husband once again acts
inappropriate while the White House ?
4. Mrs. Clinton, if elected what exactly will be your husband’s role in the White House?
5. What specific policies if any do you not support President Bill Clinton on?

I think the American people have the right to know what exactly they are getting in this two for one sale job the Clinton’s are purporting. Sydney Rieckoff deserves the Journalistic of the Year Award for the most outstanding question. Her parents ought to allow her an extra scoop of ice cream and the so-called professional journalist need to take a lesson from Sydney about reporting.

Huckabee's Challenge

Governor Huckabee is now being tested by fire. As a seconded tiered candidate no one paid much attention to him, but now that he has risen to one of the top two Presidential candidates the scrutiny is intense and in many cases unfair.

His challenge is to find a way to define himself as well and not allow his opponents to define him. Huckabee has done a great job defining himself as the true social conservative in the Republican field. Now he needs define himself as a economic and national security conservative. My advise to Governor Huckabee is to go into the den of the of the conservative lions and explain his policies as Governor of Arkansas and what he will do has President.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity, Bill O'Reily, Ann Coulter and other prominent conservatives will give him a fair hearing while challenging him. I am convinsed that Huckabee would do well in those forums and would be treated with respect. He could also shore up the social conservative base by meeting with the likes of James Dobson and others. While some of them may have already endorsed other candidates in the primaries, he will have their support if he wins the nomination.

Another suggestion would be to portray himself as the front runner and invite the other candidates to one on one debates. This would show him as Presidential and allow the undecided to see him in action. This will hone his skills as he prepares to take on the Democrats.

In order to be called the best, you must be willing to play the best. The polls suggest they are seriously considering Huckabee. He now has the opportunity to take the challenge and prove he is the total conservative package. I wish him well.

Merry Christmas To You Governor Huckabee

You would have thought by the response of the media pundits, liberal democrats and some political strategist that Mike Huckabee acknowledged the birth of Christ in his Merry Christmas ad. To top it off, the light reflecting off the bookshelf forming a cross must have been a subliminal message that said Huckabee is more Christian than the other candidates. Had it been staged, I would question the authenticity of Huckabee too, but since it was not staged, maybe it was divine intervention or maybe it was simply light reflecting off a bookcase that formed a cross that crossed moved over Huckabee's head. Regardless, it was quite impressive and effective.

What far left liberals, athiest and ACLU types don't understand is that about 80% of us Americans kind of like having God around. For most Americans, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. For most Americans the belief in the Christmas story is about the baby Jesus who grew up to be the Savior of the World. The message of Christmas gives most Americans hope and is a story worthy of being told. For those who are offended by the public display of Christmas will be offended by practically anything.

You don't have to believe in a particular faith to appreciate a person's right to openly practice and celebrate their faith. Unlike radical Islam that will force you to convert or face death, Christianity recognizes that people are free to accept or reject their faith without physical consequence. The beauty of America's Constitution is that while not allowing government to impose or endorse a particular religion it allows for people to express whatever religion they have freely.

Mike Huckabee is a Christian whose personal worldview is shaped by his belief in Christ. As a President, Governor Huckabee would be governed by the rule of law and the Constitution. The greatness of our founding fathers is that American law was based on biblical principals of personal freedom and social responsibility. If the concept of loving your neighbor as yourself is somehow dangerous and offensive to you then you are the one with the problem.

For Governor Huckabee to wish the American people a Merry Christmas was quite refreshing in today's PC world where way too many get up each day looking to be offended by someone or something. With that said, I say Governor Huckabee thank you for your Merry Christmas wish and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your family as well. For those of you of other faiths, Merry{Fill in your faith} and Happy New Year to you as well. For those of you that have no faith of any kind, Happy New Year to you as well.

The Huckaboom Scrutiny

As a supporter of Mike Huckabee, I think the scrutiny of his record as Governor of Arkansas is warranted and justified. It's important that the American people are able to explore the full extent of a candidates record and ask some really tough questions about their records, positions and actions. I think Governor Huckabee should explain his rational for all the pardons and commuted sentences. He should have to explain why he raised taxes or his position on illegal immigrants.

I also think that he should have the opportunity to fully explain his record and have thoughtful people carefully consider and evaluate his answers. So far, his explanations have been reasonable and as a social and fiscal conservative I can continue to support him without having to compromise my conservative principals. I can't say the same about some of the other Republican candidates. The irony is all the Republicans have many strengths and everyone of them except Ron Paul would be better than any Democrat running, but as a conservative Republican I should not have to compromise my core conservative beliefs and vote for someone whose positions I really don't support. The media pundits can not figure out why the Republican Party has not locked in on one candidate yet. The answer is because Republicans are thoughtful people and they are still evaluating who they can best support and why. Unlike modern day Democrats who simply drink the koolaid without every exploring what is in it.

Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson are conservatives while the others may have some conservative principals, but too many liberal positions for my liking. I like what Huckabee is saying and the scrutiny of his record and his ability to explain some obvious concerns only solidified my support for him.

Mike Huckabee is a social and fiscal conservatives and his ideas are fresh and he has that Reaganistic appeal that crosses party lines. I like the sound of President Mike Huckabee.

President Mike Huckabee

I am the first to admit that my support for Mike Huckabee was slow in coming. For the past several months, I have quietly supported Huckabee with a few bucks and kept my eye on him in the debates. With each and every debate, Huckabee in my opinion either won the debate or came in a close second. He moved up from a second tiered candidate to the low end of the top tiered guys and now he has moved up to be a contender. You have to love an underdog.

The question I had of Huckabee is he electable? While any of the Republican candidates would be superior to any Democrat running for President, I questioned whether or not Huckabee could get enough name recognition to move up in the field . Due to his grass roots efforts with very little money here he is, a leading contender. I'm impressed.

As a social and economic conservative that believes in a strong national defense, I no longer feel obligated to support a Republican candidate that are not true conservatives. Giuliani may be able to keep our country safe, but he doesn't think that an unborn child is worthy of being protected. Romney was pro-choice but now claims to be pro-life. He's flip-flopped in the right direction, but I question his sincerity. McCain was the darling of the Democrats when he was bashing President Bush , evangelical Christians and supporting positions many Republicans found indefensible and now he is asking for our vote. Fred Thompson I like. He is a conservative that I could support. His problem is he fails to inspire people. The other Republican candidates are good guys, but unelectable. Ron Paul is not a Republican, but a true nut job in my humble opinion and only has support among loony libertarians.

Then there is Mike Huckabee. A decent and nice man with a great sense of humor and a common sense approach to governing. His appeal crosses party lines. Huckabee is Reaganistic in that he portrays a sense of hope and optimism. When you listen to his ideas, it only gets better. I like his Fair Tax Plan. Eliminate all the payroll taxes and have a 23% national sales tax on all new purchases with rebates to the poor. It makes the taxes we pay transparent. Let the government haggle over how to divide up the 23%. No more IRS, no more Washington lobbies trying to gain some sort of tax advantage. It's quite simple. You buy something new you pay your taxes. You earn your money and only pay taxes when make a new purchase. You may say the 23% is too high or too low. The beauty of the Fair Tax Plan is that we get to debate one (1)tax instead of all the hidden federal taxes we currently pay.

Huckabee is a man of faith. He really believes in God and thinks that people of all faiths should be free to exercise their faith publicly and privately. Huckabee understands that the sanctity of life extends from the womb to the tomb. Criminals should be punished and law abiders should be protected. Huckabee understands the threat that radical Islam poses to America and the need for a strong national defense. Huckabee understands that the traditional family is the best way to raise children, but compassion and loving your neighbor as yourself are true Christan and American virtues that should be promoted. I like his platform of faith, family and freedom.

For the past 8 years Democrats have been successful at demoralizing our nation. They have lusted for political power and what have they done with that power. Nothing. What do they plan on doing with their political power? Unleash a gauntlet of liberalism on our nation and forever change our country for the worse. One only has to look at the street fairs in San Francisco to see where liberal Democrats want to take our country.

America has also watched corrupt Republicans squander their opportunity to govern as conservatives. Huckabee would give wayward Republicans the opportunity to redeem themselves and govern as true conservatives.


Huckabee offers America optimism, hope and a vision of a better tomorrow. I wish him well.
